The Joy Manual
The Joy Manual
Dec 02, 2016
What is a Joy Manual? I asked that very same question as I read those words in a recent ad in an issue of the USA Today newspaper. The line that caught my eye and drew my attention to the ad read: Want More Joy? Now, I will admit, I have been blessed and have much joy and happiness in life – but heck, if I could click on some internet website and get some instant joy; that was an offer to good to refuse.
My next step was to find a computer and log in to my instant joy. Well, I suspect you already know the answer, as I logged in to the website no joy was offered. I was quickly reminded there really isn’t a joy manual available for me to read and learn new methods for joy in my life – or was there? As I logged off the computer, I paused for a moment and glancing over to the kitchen table there in plain sight was my own personal copy of the Joy Manual; the title read – The Holy Bible.
So what does the Bible tell us about joy? In the Psalms, we read many encouraging scriptures such as: “You have made known to me the path of life; you will fill me with joy in your presence, with eternal pleasures at your right hand”. Psalm 16:11 And, “For you make me glad by your deeds, Lord; I sing for joy at what your hands have done. How great are your works, Lord, how profound your thoughts”. Psalm 92:4-5
Do you want to discover more joy in your life? I want to encourage you to take a moment out of your day to consider these three question as if God was sitting next to you right now!
- What can We celebrate today in your life?
- What’s not working in your life that you want to change?
- What can We (God and You) work on together?
Got your answers? Now write them down on a piece of paper and bring your answers to your Lord in prayer. Thank God for the joy he provides you daily. Ask God to be the center of your life and watch your joy increase. Finally, praise God that he walks along side of you each step of your life. He will never leave or forsake you. Now that is real joy...
My Thought for Your Day
“I have no greater joy than this, to hear of my children walking in the truth”. 3 John 1:4
