The dawn of another day arrives and so we begin. What lies ahead is only known by one – your Heavenly Father. Are you ready for what this day will bring? Have you prepared your heart and mind for the twists and turns that life has a way of placing in your path?
One way to better prepare for today, tomorrow, the rest of your life is to begin feeding your mind with the right stuff. We place an almost obsessive amount of attention on our physical bodies; what we eat, drink, our physical condition – but our mind, not so much. Not to get overly technical today but I thought I would share just a bit about two scientific principles that can greatly impact your life. Let’s start with the Law of Cognition – You are what you think. Research has shown that one’s thoughts influences every aspect of one’s being. Consider this; the way you think, creates your attitudes; the way you think, shapes your emotions; the way you think, governs your behavior; the way you think, can even influence your immune system and vulnerability to illness. Everything about YOU that you experience with others flows out of the way you think.
The second principle I would have you reflect on is the Law of Exposure – Your mind will think about what it is most exposed to. Are you giving your mind a chance to succeed? I would encourage you to consider the words of the apostle Paul as a guiding principle to condition your mind in a positive direction and have you focus on; ‘whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable – if anything is excellent or praiseworthy – think about such things’.
So we begin another day. A day filled with opportunities to make a difference in the lives of people whose path we will cross. Take the first step right now to prepare your mind; ask yourself, where are my thoughts at this moment? Do I need to change any thoughts in order to improve my mind and change my heart?
See, that wasn’t so difficult.
