"My Thought for Your Day" by Paul Minzlaff

Little six year old Sam was small for his age, but that didn’t hold Sam back from asking big questions. At night, Sam loved having one of his favorite stories read to him at bedtime. One night before the story began, Sam asked his mother a question that caught her a bit off guard and struggling for words: “What will it be like when I meet God in heaven for the first time?”
I am not really sure what mom’s answer was that evening, but we can be fairly certain that young Sam is not the only one who has asked this question. What I do know is that God knows you today head to toe, inside and out. He is clear, He knows the number of hairs on your head. I am also confident that God desires a personal relationship with you; one on one time where His grace abounds. We never face anything in life alone – nothing. What the world has overlooked, your Heavenly Father has remembered.
Consider this idea: sometimes in my quiet moments, I ponder the question, ‘What if Jesus was sitting next to me, what he might say?’ Specifically, what might He have me stop doing and instead start doing? Might He suggest the following?
Stop pretending you get to live twice
Stop “getting by” with average, you were designed for more
Stop settling for easy; often the “no pain, no gain” analogy is true
Stop making decisions with your ego
Stop being afraid of what could go wrong
Start pursuing excellence – today
Start doing what you were created for – to serve others
Start asking for help – it’s not a sign of weakness
Start making decisions guided by your heart
Start being excited about what could go right
As you begin another day, have the child-like faith of little Sam. Trust that your Lord has you in the palm of His hands, that he will never leave or forsake you. Let your faith guide your days, believing that God’s plan for you is better than the plan you have for yourself. Heaven awaits those who believe in the One who gave His life for you. Live today and tomorrow with gratitude and joy as we wait for the day when our Master says, “Well done, good and faithful servant!”
