We at Hales Corners Lutheran would be honored should you choose our sanctuary for the beginning of your marriage commitment.  The wedding day is indeed special and spiritual.  It is the day that God blesses your promises to each other and your relationship.  We pray that you will ask Jesus to be the center of your lives together.

Information about scheduling your wedding at HCLC, please see FAQs at top of the our home page.

Preparation for Your Marriage

Our Pastors feel an obligation to you--- if we are going to prepare you for wedding, it is much more important that we prepare you for marriage.

All couples are expected to complete pre-marital counseling. That consists of:

a) Attendance at one (1) Pre-Marital workshop (offered in September and March)

b) Completion of and evaluation of a pre-marriage counseling inventory. This questionnaire is designed to help identify the strengths and growth areas of your relationship. This inventory is the first step in Pre-Marital counseling you will complete with a mentoring couple from the church.

c) Meeting with your mentoring couple to review the results of the Prepare Inventory. This will usually include three (3) informal meetings of 1-1 ½ hours each at the mentor’s home.  You will receive a postcard with the names of the mentors and their phone numbers at the time assignment is made. You will contact the mentors to up your first meeting.

d) You will meet for a final time with your Pastor to discuss your mentoring experience, any further counseling and final wedding plans.

e) Remember to pray together about your relationship and marriage.

Pre Cana Conference Information

“Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It is not rude, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres. And now these three remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love.”- I Corinthians 13:4-7, 13

“Husbands love your wives, just as Christ loved the church and gave Himself to her. In this same way, husbands ought to love their wives as their own bodies. He who loves his wife loves himself.” - Ephesians 5:25, 28A few words

. . . So you’re planning to be married!

How wonderful! The family of Christians who gather at Hales Corners Lutheran rejoices with you at your decision to enter this sacred relationship. We at Hales Corners Lutheran are pleased that you have chosen to share this important event in your lives with us. Because marriage is a life-long union of a man and a woman, and it requires a commitment like no other commitment in the world, it is a step not to be taken lightly. When two individuals decide to merge their lives, issues never experienced arise. Each person has his/her likes and dislikes, habits and desires. These may not always coincide; and when they do not, life becomes tense. While no one can predict what the future holds in store for you, it may be assumed that life together will present both joys and sorrows, times of sickness and times of health. The bright glow of the romantic love you now have for each other may overshadow such events; but they lie ahead nonetheless.

It is important, therefore, that you take a few moments to look ahead to the future to get a glimpse of what lies before you.
