Lutheran Missions "ATTIC" Workshop

The Attic Workshop receives medicine form pharmacies, doctor's offices and clinics and repackages them for shipment to overseas missions.

The "ATTIC" Workshop began in 1957 as part of the Lutheran Medical Mission Association.  The wife of a missionary doctor taught the members of her Bible Study group how to make bandages and shipped them to Nigerian Clinics.  In l960, the LMMA moved to the "attic" location at the Grange Campus of Hales Corners Lutheran Church.  It was in July l985 that the official name changed to the Lutheran Missions "Attic" Workshop.  As of August 2004 the "Attic" calls Steeple View its home.

WHAT DO WE DO?

We collect donated hospital supplies and medicines from doctor's offices, clinics and hospitals  Also, we receive items from  resale shops, groups and individuals.  Our volunteers screen, sort and repackage the donated supplies and items into shippable cartons and send to our MISSION CONTACTS  in Haiti, India, Moldova (two orphanages and a women's hospital), Mozambique, and the Philippines (two clinics and a orphanage).  Also, Lutheran Border Concerns Ministry, Widows Mite, Orphan Grain Train and International Children's Fund.

To help keep the Attic Workshop going we are in constant need of over the counter medications for adults and children, personal hygiene items, school supplies, tracts and Bible story books are specifically needed.  See the ministry counter after the service for a full list of the needs list.
