The Servant’s Heart exists to
impart and model the unconditional love of Jesus to the most impoverished
peoples of the world's cities, working individually and in community to help
them discover, identify and implement God's unique plan for their
lives.
This is the vision and mission of The Servant's Heart Ministry in Guatemala City. The urban mission efforts differ from the rural and mountain missions in many ways. The Mayans that have been forced back into the city now live in areas where they are considered outcasts and are unable to find work except for recycling items from the large city dump. These outcasts are also forced to live in a squatters' area near the dump in very poor living conditions.
The Servant's Heart is a RSO (Registered Service Organization) of the Lutheran Chruch Missouri Synod and helps the children receive a Christian education.
Hales Corners Lutheran continues to support this mission with some funding and by sending short term mission teams to Guatemala each year .
