God has created us in His image. In honor of His work, we should strive to improve our spiritual and physical health. The worship series May 18 - June 22 will focus on helping us in that walk. Pastor Mike and Pastor Thelen have a competition to see who can lose the most weight as a percentage of their current weight. Pastor Mike has taken the lead. Come on Pastor Thelen! Keep losing those pounds!

Pastor Weight Loss PledgeAll the pastors have challenged themselves to lose a combined 125 pounds from now through September 14, 2008. The congregation is encouraged to pledge $1, $2, $5 or more for each pound lost by the pastors. 10% of the funds received will be sent to the Synod's Ablaze! activity. The balance of the funds will be used to fund our Lighthouse Ministry, Celebrate Recovery and Congregational Care ministries. Pledge cards can be picked up in the church Atrium, or print off the card below and drop it in the box in the Atrium. You will be advised after September 14, 2008 how much your pledge amounts to.
Health TipsFor your physical health improvement, consider using the Hales Corners Lutheran Fitness Area and/or Walking Track. For membership information click here to go to the Community Center page.Get extra exercise by using the stairs when possible. The average person needs to drink 8 cups of fluid (mostly water) each day. High blood pressure is the #1 killer in America. Have your blood pressure checked annually. We offer free blood pressure screening every third Sunday morning of the month from 8:45 to 9:15 and 10:15-11:00. Maintaining a healthy weight, physical activity and healthy eating are key to a healthy lifestyle. Lifestyle changes can help you improve or maintain your health. Pray for help on those habits that you know you need to change. To lose wight we must use more calories than we eat. A healthy diet and exercise are key. Exercise can help you maintain independence and mobility. A complete fitness routine should include activities that focus on endurance, strength, flexibility and balance. A complete fitness routine provides both physical and emotional benefits.
