2017-18 School Year: JOY!
In Mark 12: 30/31, Jesus is asked what the greatest commandment is. He replied, “love the Lord your God with all of your heart, and with all your sound with all your mind, and with all your strength. The second is this: Love your neighbor as yourself.”
The JOY that comes every day is knowing how we love God, we love our neighbors and then ourselves. This is a life long lesson that we will use as our theme for the following school year.
My prayer is that this theme is and becomes a “core” of who each of us are!
- Mr. Albert Amling, Superintendent of Schools/Principal
Our teachers are sensitive to your child’s individual needs and are committed to the development of the whole child: spiritual, physical, intellectual, emotional and social. Teachers are fully invested in the well-being of their students, building healthy relationships and trust that prepare them to lead responsible, purpose-filled lives for Christ.
National Lutheran School Accreditation (NLSA) evaluates the quality of academics, programming and spiritual formation. This process helps schools define success and plan for continued school improvement.
Exemplary schools have met and exceeded expectations of the NLSA through the accreditation process. Through quality academics and spiritual development, exemplary schools have proven themselves as leaders, developing and implementing best practices.

What Defines Us?
An Education that Glorifies God
Christian education relates God’s Word to every aspect of life. We seek to integrate it into every facet of curriculum throughout the school day, helping children nurture their personal relationship with God. Knowing they have a place in His kingdom helps them discover the purpose He has for their lives.
Prepares For a Life of Faithful Service
As we believe God has uniquely gifted each person to do good works which He expects His children to do, (Matthew 25:34-40; 1 Peter 4:10; Romans 12:3-21) we encourage our students to follow His example and to serve as Christ’s hands and feet in the world every day.
A child’s first experiences in school are important to their learning and development. Our teachers are extraordinarily skilled in nurturing children while encouraging and challenging them to succeed. Teachers and students are actively involved in the learning process, resulting in a rewarding adventure where children are eager to learn, investigate, grow and discover.
For over 55 years, we have been partnering with parents/guardians and families to nurture Christian based education. We welcome family involvement and credit many experiences and opportunities enjoyed by our children to the active participation of the families in our school.
Strong Interpersonal Relationships
Sharing common goals and interests, such as faith, creates strong bonds between teachers, students, and families. Reinforced by trust, respect and honesty, the bonds that are formed at Hales Corners Lutheran School are ones that last a lifetime.
2016 DPI School Report Card
The Department of Public Instruction (DPI) creates School Report Cards and District Report Cards for publicly funded schools and districts in the state. Starting with the 2015-16 school year, report cards for private schools participating in the choice program are required. These report cards are based only on data for choice students in the school and can be accessed online.
The Choice Student-School Report Card has some key differences compared to public School Report Cards this year because all choice schools participated in a new data collection system for the first time in the 2015-16 school year. As a result, DPI only has a single year of data for choice students and the report cards require multiple years of data to produce a score. Given these data limitations, the Choice Pupil Report Cards for 2015-16 do not report:
- Any scores or ratings because calculations require at least two years of data. All choice schools will be “Not Rated” for their first year of report cards.
- Attendance or absenteeism rates because those rates lag by one year and DPI does not have student-level attendance data from the 2014-15 school year from choice schools.
- Graduation rates because these rates require four years of data to calculate.
The legislative requirements to produce these report cards allow choice schools to opt-in to receive a report card for all students attending the private school. We have chosen to not opt into the Private School Report Card at this time and will continue to evaluate in the future.
