How do I add more people to my small group?
If you have less then 8 people...we encourage you to build the membership of your group up to 10 or 12. Here are some tips on how to expand your group
- The best way? Personally invite someone. While, we are placing people into groups, we are also finding that the retention rate is not very high if the new member does not already know someone within the group. So...Invite a friend. Invite a family member. Invite someone who sits next to you at church. Invite a co-worker. Invite a neighbor. Invite the clerk at the gas station. Be prayerful, creative, and intentional about inviting people into your group. Let God's Spirit lead you to the right people.
- Announcement in welcome folder. You can contact Tony Cizel at 414-529-6700 ext. 157 to place a brief announcement in the welcome folder, describing your group, and explaining that you are interested in more members.
- Church website. We have a "small group finder" on our church website, which enables new members and guests to locate a group that meets their needs. You can have your group listed among the available groups. To do so contact Tony Cizel in the church office at 414-529-6700 ext. 157.
- Call Tony Cizel at the church office (414-529-6700 ext. 157). Tony is in charge of the small group database and is in charge of placing people into groups. If your group is looking for more members, he will note this on the church database and then will keep it in mind as he places individuals.
I have too many people in my group. What should I do?
If you have more than 12...here are some ways to deal with this growth.
- You can meet as a larger group for part of the meeting, but then break into smaller groups for the discussion portion.
- You can multiply your group, and "birth" a new group out of the existing one. This can happen in a number of ways. The current leader can leave to start a new group, and someone else can take over as a leader. Someone else could leave to start a new group, while the existing leader stays. The group could split into two groups, each with its own leader. Or everyone in the existing group could start a new group.
