Hot Lunch & Snacks
Student friendly hot lunches and morning and afternoon snacks are served to keep students' energy up to the daily tasks, as well as, help free up parents from the task of packing cold lunches. Bag lunches are provided by Summer Program for all off campus days.
Each week of summer has its own theme to entertain, delight and keep students engaged in the Summer Care experience. These themes are combined with daily, interactive, chapel to infuse each day with faith building fun that is never the same day twice.
Crafts, Sports & EducationThe Summer Care curriculum is designed using weekly themes to keep students thinking, moving and creating with a wide variety of sports, crafts and creative education to let students dabble and be submersed in new and old interests.
Parks & Off-Campus RecreationEach week students have the opportunity to explore new ground on a bus field trip. Whenever possible, we explore parks and playgrounds to entertain, educate and keep students engaged in fun and activity.
Class Breakdown & Staffing
Students begin and end their days in a group setting, but are broken down into 3-4 class groups by grade (entering K-1st, 2nd-3rd, and 4th-6th) for the majority of the day. Our staff is predominantly education majors, current HCLS Before and After School staff and Lutheran school graduates. This has built a strong staff that is faith orientated and dedicated to the needs of our students and the development of their foundation of faith and values.
As students move through the program, some students naturally stand out as leaders. Our program is proud to offer the mentor program to continue to grow these leadership skills. Students who have modeled good leadership and role modeling in their 5th and 6th grade years at Summer Care may interview to join as mentors once they are entering 7th grade. A portion of Summer Care tuition will be waived as part of this program.
