April has been an extremely busy month at Hales Corners Lutheran! We have been abundantly blessed and are celebrating all of the amazing things that happened in our church and school over the last few weeks. Thank you to everyone who made all of these events possible – we are so thankful for our wonderful congregation, students, teachers, volunteers, and parents. Without you, none of this would be possible!
3rd-5th Grade Service
On April 5th, our 3rd-5th graders led a special Friday night service, and shared the story of Nicodemus with their families! It was a wonderful night of student-led worship as our kids used their God-given talents to praise Him and bless others.
On Wednesday, April 10th, more than 500 people gathered in the gym for Donut Day! This extremely fun morning gave our kids, their families, and teachers the opportunity to have a “sweet” morning together full of fellowship and delicious food.
Festival Choir Concert – The Easter Story
In preparation for Holy Week and Easter, our Festival Choir and Orchestra shared their amazing talents as they told the Easter Story through beautiful music and devotional messages. From mournful ballads to joyful spirituals and sweeping orchestrations, they perfectly portrayed the life, death, and resurrection of Jesus. In total, nearly 80 singers, 24 musicians, and a full tech team were involved in presenting the Festival concerts, with more than 1600 people in attendance.
Easter Egg Hunt
6,000 Easter Eggs, 500 Exaltation Egg Kits, 75 volunteers, and over 1,000 kids and their families made for an INCREDIBLE Easter Egg Hunt! The sun was shining as church, school, and community members came together for a morning of fun as we celebrated the resurrection of our Savior and Christ’s love for us!
8th Grade Confirmation Retreat
Our 8th grade confirmands joined together for an all-day retreat where they enjoyed fellowship with other students while writing their faith stories. At the end of the day each student shared their story with their families.
Holy Week & Easter Services
We walked together through Jesus’ final hours, his death on the cross, and his triumphant resurrection. We took chains and broke them on a cross, showing that Jesus’ death broke our chains and set us free from sin and permanent death. The sun rose on Easter as we began worship services at 6 am and continued throughout the morning, celebrating the resurrection of our Savior. And now, even though Lent and Holy Week and Easter have ended, we know that because Jesus LIVES we can greet each day, each month, each year with hope and joy.
God’s blessings to you and your family!
