The 5th Sunday of the month in Chapel North, we take the opportunity to mobilize God’s people to serve in their community, to meet human need. It’s an important part of the ever deepening worship lifestyle of a Christian to practice servanthood. Each 5th Sunday, we partner with an organization in the area to donate supplies, and volunteer to assemble meals, serve food, clean, and do other tasks to help out wherever we can. If you’d like to continue to help with any of the groups we partner with beyond the 5th Sunday of each month, you can find more details for each organization below.
Hope Street provides a safe environment for men, women, and children who have been affected by a toxic environment, their own poor choices, or drug and alcohol abuse. The staff, volunteers, and members at Hope Street cultivate a nurturing community to help people live, learn, develop new habits, and flourish. Hope Street has a wishlist of items to donate, as well as a number of ways to serve their community.
Ebenezer Stone Ministries offers a food pantry, meals, and community assistance connections in order to support those in need in and around Milwaukee. Volunteers are always needed to help pick up and organize food from various donors, sort through clothing donations, prepare and serve Saturday morning breakfast, and more. A list of needed items are available on their website, and donation bins are located in the southeast entryway at Hales Corners Lutheran Church.
Ronald McDonald House Charities offers families whose children are receiving medical care at Children’s Hospital of Wisconsin and other area hospitals a comfortable place to stay, therapeutic programming, a comprehensive meal program, and peace during a stressful time. They rely on donations and volunteers to help keep families together while a child is in the hospital. A wishlist and ways to volunteer can be found on their website.
Soles for Jesus is dedicated to sharing the love of Christ by distributing shoes to the under-served people in sub-Saharan Africa. These shoes make a radical difference in the lives of the children and adults who receive them! Soles for Jesus is always looking for shoe donations, as well as volunteers to come sort and pack shoes for shipment.
